Sting, Timberlake, Legend and Miranda to perform at Oscars

"These performances will not only celebrate the five extraordinary nominated original songs, but also the integral part music plays in movies", De Luca and Todd said.

Miranda, Timberlake, and Sting are all nominated this year, with the Hamilton composer teaming up with Moana star Auli'i Cravalho for that movie's "How Far I'll Go". If Miranda wins the Oscar, he'll be one of the very few people ever got have won an EGOT: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.

Sting will be singing The Empty Chair, which he wrote for Jim: The James Foley Story. He'll be joined onstage by Auli'i Cravalho, the actress who voiced the title character. In addition to this current nomination, Sting has been nominated in this category on three previous occasions; "You Will Be My Ain True Love" from "Cold Mountain" (2003), "Until" from "Kate & Leopold" (2001) and "My Funny Friend And Me" from "The Emperor's New Groove" (2000), which he shared with David Hartley.

He wrote the track with Swedish pop production duo Karl Johan Schuster and Max Martin who have also worked with the likes of Taylor Swift, Usher and Katy Perry. While he's appeared in an Oscar-winning movie - "The Social Network" - he's never been nominated before. Despite "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)" and "City of Stars" being the signature showcase songs for Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, respectively, neither will perform them live on stage.

Legend is a previous Oscar victor for his and Common's powerful song "Glory" from Selma, which was a standout musical moment at the 2015 Oscars. ABC will air the trophy show live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The Oscars are so close and the producers are still making announcement about the show.
